International students normally study in Thailand under a Non-Immigrant ED (Non-ED) visa.

Students who intend to undertake paid employment and receive a salary in Thailand may need to change their visa status to a Non-Immigrant B (Non-B) visa and obtain a Work Permit before beginning employment. Please note that Chulalongkorn University does not process Work Permit applications for students.

However, funding provided by the University in the form of a scholarship is not considered salary. Students receiving such funding may remain under their Non-ED student visa and are not required to change their visa status solely on the basis of receiving the scholarship.

As individual circumstances may differ, students are advised to consult the Office of International Affairs and Global Network (OIA), Chulalongkorn University, for further information regarding visa and work permit requirements.
