High Potential Doctoral Student Scholarship Guidelines, Fiscal Year 2024

 

 

The Faculty of Psychology, Chulalongkorn University, has allotted a budget for a doctoral scholarship to attract applicants with high academic and research abilities to join forces with our faculty members in producing high-quality scholarly works and research.

 

Per Section 34 of the Chulalongkorn University Statute 2008 and the approval of the Extra 4/2023 Faculty of Psychology’s management committee meeting on 22 November 2023, the scholarship details are as follows.

 

1. This announcement is called “Announcement Faculty of Psychology, Chulalongkorn University High Achieving PhD Student Scholarship Guidelines, Fiscal Year 2024.”

 

2. This announcement is in effect starting from the date of the announcement.

 

3. Eligible applicants must:

 

3.1 Have one of the following educational qualifications:

 

3.1.1 Completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in psychology OR

 

3.1.2 Currently studying in the final year of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in psychology OR

 

3.1.3 A Master’s degree student of the Faculty of Psychology, Chulalongkorn University, who has passed the Doctoral Qualification Exam and has been elevated to the doctoral level within the academic year of 2023.

 

3.2 Have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or above on the date of application and upon graduation

 

3.3 Have an English proficiency score of 75 or above for CU-TEP, OR 550 or above for TOEFL, OR 6.5 or above for IELTS, OR have graduated or are currently graduating from a program that uses English and the mode of instruction.

 

3.4 Have a 1,000-to-1,500-word dissertation proposal.

 

3.5 Have a faculty member at the Faculty of Psychology, Chulalongkorn University, agree to be their academic advisor according to the form.

 

4. Eligible scholarship recipients must:

 

4.1 Have met the requirements stated in No. 3. AND

 

4.2 Have been evaluated and approved as eligible to receive the scholarship by the program committee of the Faculty of Psychology doctoral program the applicant is applying to AND

 

4.3 Apply and be admitted into one of the Faculty of Psychology doctoral programs in the academic year 2024.

 

5. Conditions of the Scholarship

 

5.1 From the first semester until they successfully defend their dissertation proposal, typically within four semesters, the scholarship recipients must work as an academic or research assistant of their academic advisor for 20 hours a week. (The advisor must include the student as a co-author in at least one of their publications).

 

5.2 After their dissertation proposal has been approved, the scholarship recipients must work as an academic or research assistant of their academic advisor for 10 hours a week. They must have at least one research paper published or waiting to be published within one year after graduation. The paper must meet the following requirements.

 

(1) The research paper must be published in an international journal recognized by ISI/SCOPUS with a journal quartile score of 2 or higher according to the latest ranking by the Journal Citation Report – Clarivate Analytics (JCR) or Scimago Journal & country (SJR)

 

(2) The scholarship recipient must be listed as the first author, the academic advisor as the corresponding author, and the authors’ affiliation must be “the Faculty of Psychology, Chulalongkorn University.”

 

5.3 At the end of each semester, the scholarship recipients must report their academic, dissertation, and research progress to the program committee via their academic advisor for approval to continue receiving the scholarship in the following semester.

 

5.4 The scholarship recipients must acknowledge the scholarship in their dissertation and any published works as follows:

 

Acknowledgments in the dissertation must say, “My sincere gratitude to the Faculty of Psychology, Chulalongkorn University, for the High Potential Scholarship, which has been an important factor in helping me complete this research smoothly.”

 

Acknowledgments in any published works must say, “This article is part of a research on……………………………………… which has been supported by the Faculty of Psychology, Chulalongkorn University, High Potential Doctoral Student Scholarship.”

 

6. Benefit and Duration

 

Three successful applicants will be selected and awarded this scholarship. The benefits and duration of the scholarship are as follows:

 

6.1 From the first semester until they successfully defend their dissertation proposal, the scholarship recipients will receive the following financial support with a maximum duration of 4 semesters.

University Tuition Fee 35,000 Baht per semester

Program Fee 50,000 Baht per semester

 

6.2 After their dissertation proposal has been approved, the scholarship recipients can apply for the program fee waiver and apply for the second part of this scholarship in the semester following the proposal exam. They will receive the following financial support with a maximum duration of 2 semesters.

University Tuition Fee 35,000 Baht per semester

 

7. Suspension of Scholarship. The Faculty of Psychology will suspend scholarships per any of the following conditions:

 

7.1 Termination of student status

 

7.2 Recipients engage in academic dishonesty

 

7.3 Recipients are during leave

 

7.4 Recipients are unable to meet the requirements of No. 5

 

7.5 The Faculty of Psychology has seen fit to suspend

Interested and eligible individuals can contact the Office of Academic Affairs, Faculty of Psychology, for more details on the application process, starting from the date of this announcement until 15 February 2024
