Our goal is to research the effectiveness of mindfulness insight-based interventions. MBIs draw on psychological theory and Eastern philosophies, and focus on enhancing insight into allegedly universal understandings of suffering, impermanence, and interconnectedness. Our group uses rigorous methodologies to test the key assumptions of this approach. We aspire to use this knowledge to reduce psychological distress and promote psychological well-being. The group aims to develop practical interventions, assessment tools, and innovations relevant to MBIs. International collaborations with researchers interested in mindfulness are promoted to enhance understanding of how MBIs might be used cross-culturally.
